Private Residence

Winner: RCCS — Ross Communication and Construction Services

Project: PUMPA Residence

ROCS was commissioned by the Pumpa family to design and install the "high tech services" to create a user friendly, completely integrated, state-of the-art smart home. Installation consisted of TV, foxtel, music, radio, video intercom, security, telephone and data systems and home theatre. All systems were fully integrated for multiple room zoning and operation.

This was a particularly large project for a domestic residence - with two separate buildings; a main house and a guest residence, and included challenges such as running cables through walls that were made of sandwiched foam filled panels. The project was completed on .lime and budget, and the owner is delighted with the excellent result.

Occupational Health and Safety

Winner: Intravision Pty Ltd

Project: Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations (DEEWR) City West Project

Intravision won the contract for supply and installation of a data and communications system for the City West Project. The 2 tower multilevel building is head office for the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, and home to the "The National Safety Commissioner". The project was a "case study example" of the importance of OH&S as evidenced when the 1st floor and basement levels collapsed, leading to increased scrutiny of all OH&S standards.

Intravision was well place in this as they had implemented the comprehensive NECA OH&S management system. This also led to them proudly winning "Safety Initiative Awards".

Voice/Data – Small Project

Winner: Multisystem Communications Pty Ltd

Project: Canberra Data Centres POD 9

"Canberra Data Centres" is a Next Gen Data Centre facility. In June 2009 a sensitive government agency commissioned a POD to be constructed within this facility. Multisystem Communications' experience as a leading communications cabling specialist won them the contract for this high security project.

The works were completed in an exceptionally short time frame — just 3 weeks from start to finish - to investigate, source and complete the installation. To achieve the deadline Multisystem worked closely with supplier "Panduit International" and devoted much time to pre-planning before commencing works on site. The project was completed on time, and the client is delighted with the installation.

Voice/Data – Large Project

Winner: Intravision Pty Ltd

Project: Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations (DEEWR) City West Project

The project for the Dept of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations required the design, supply and installation of a comprehensive data and communications system. Intravision's scope of works included; secure fibre optic network, MAN for Parliamentary video and normal Tv services, and the installation of a systimax Ms!Patch 360 Cat 6a data and voice cabling system. The successful delivery of this high quality installation is a testament to the excellent workmanship from the team at Intravision.

Winner: Nexus Electrical Pty Ltd

Project: CSIRO Building 101 South Wing Refurbishment

The listed building contained heritage skylights and original surfaces that had to be protected. Project: Botswana High Commission

The brief to Five Star Electrical from the Botswana High Commission was for provision of a complete electrical system including; supply and installation of all general power and lighting, communication services, MAN system, C-Bus controls, UPS system and back up generator facilities. This was a very demanding installation, with high expectations with regard to finishes, time lines and budget adherence. Plus requirements for functionality and energy management.

Delivering the project, including the numerous variations, required good management skills to maintain all critical deadlines. The Botswana High Commission project was a high profile project, and its successful outcome is a credit to the team at Five Star Electrical.

Commercial – Large Project

Winner: Multisystem Communications Pty Ltd

Project: Department of Health and Ageing, Sirius Building

Multisystem Communications' project for the Dept of Health and Ageing required the installation of a communications base building infrastructure in their new Sirius Building. Works included; building and floor distributor, communications cabinet, backbone telephone cabling, MATV and AV cabling, horizontal cabling, location of slab penetrations, fire rating and testing.
